WebDAV clients

WebDAV is “Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning”, and is an extension to the HTTP protocol.

The new LMS system (Blackboard) has WebDAV enabled for management; http://app.lms.unimelb.edu.au/bbcswebdav/users/%username%.

The server app.lms is running Apache Tomcat/4.1.27 (currently) so we can get a bit of baseline for what is functional. Apache Tomcat is part of the jakarta project

But this is only optimal using IE6 on WinXP. Another option is to use specific WebDAV clients to access the WebDAV server. And that’s what is currently being tested …

WebDAV : NetDrive for Windows (v4.1.x)
The current NetDrive version is 4.1. It is on the NetWare 6 Client CD (therfore NetDrive is associated with the Novell Client application). Due to licensing issues, it is not a download from Novell.com

.

NetDrive

NetDrive allows you to map a drive on your workstation and, via the internet, connect to a folder on Novell, Windows or Linux server. You can also map multiple drives to multiples servers. The drive mapping will show up in Windows explorer and look and act like a local drive

WebDAV : Goliath for Macintosh OS X (v 1.0.1)
