NATIONAL TREE DAY – Sunday 31st July
National Tree Day is Australia’s biggest community tree-planting event.Each year on National Tree Day, people are encouraged to plant trees and shrubs that are native to their local area.
Planet Ark set up Tree Day to help tackle some of the country’s serious environmental problems like salinity and erosion.
Planting native trees provides food and shelter for local animals and birdlife. These trees also provide much needed shade and beauty!
You can organise a tree planting site in your local park or school, at a nearby creek, roadside or bushland area – even in your own backyard!
