Using the DVI on a docked HP 6710b

Having migrated from my old DELL D810 to the HP dc6710b over the weekend, I am currently testing the docking options (dock EN488AA). One of the tests was to dual head the dock by using both the VGA and DVI ports. No matter what options are set, the dc6710b will not recognise the DVI monitor connected to the dock. The Intel graphics control panel only lists the “Notebook” and “Monitor” displays as options.

Robert, 6710b models do not support DVI port. Hence, even if the docking station has the DVI port, it would not be operative when connected to 6710b unit.

Strike! You’re out.

To be honest, I cannot find this in the small print in the dock technical specifications (or the dc6710b spec’s), and the dock is listed as compatible with the laptop. No dual-head for this config :(

    http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12075_na/12075_na.HTML#Standard%20Features

states “DVI not .. with 6100 6300 and 6500 series.”

Bummer, same problem here. I’d like a 3 monitor setup together with mij notebookstand and dockingstation.
