“They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
We will remember them

Premier’s Reading Challenge 2008
Welcome to the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2008. I am delighted to renew the invitation to Victorian students to take this fourth annual Premier’s Reading Challenge. Over the past three years, Victorian students have read more than seven million books in their reading for the Challenge! Collectively they have discovered new worlds, new words, new ideas and new friends in books. They have developed new skills in reading and literacy and for learning in all areas of their lives. [1]
K & L are up for this again so it is time to have a browse through the 2008 book lists.

Lost Island : Curse of the Mask

An amazing adventure into the heart of the Lost Island, a wild jungle with extraordinary aquatic animals, beautiful waterfalls and spooky caves.
The kids decided that rather than bed rest to recover from my bout with the lurgy, that what I really needed was a visit to the The Lost Island at the Melbourne Aquarium.
We are now investigating turning the Lost Island into a gaming table for our pulp characters
Myer Christmas Windows 2007: Uno’s Garden
Uno’s Garden is a moving and timely tale about how we all unknowingly affect the environment around us, just by being there, and how we can always learn from our mistakes and find better ways of doing things.
From the creator of the international bestsellers Animalia, The Waterhole and Jungle Drums, this is an illuminating and multi-layered book that can be enjoyed by children of all ages. You can’t help but fall in love with the magical world of Graeme Base’s forest, filled with wild and wonderful animals, Uno’s unique family and friends – and the elusive Snortlepig!
As part of our annual Christmas tradition we visited the Myer Christmas windows, and had photo’s at Santa’s cave @DJ’s.
