Tour de France 2013 – Stage 13

STAGE 13 Friday, July 12th, Tours > Saint-Amand-Montrond (173km)

A dull transition stage on the flat? Oh no, we get the crosswind action that was expected from the Mistral and the race is blown apart by the echelon action. Possibly the best non-mountain stage of the tour ever! [If you are into your road bike racing do yourself a favour and watch the highlights]

saxo-go-go

Rider 1: You only think I guessed wrong! That’s what’s so funny! I switched to the front of the peloton when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders – The most famous of which is “never get involved in a land war in Asia” – but only slightly less well-known is this: “Never go against a Dutch Team when the wind is across the line”! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha…
Rider 2: Echelon time!

Hit the gutter and go! … the magic “E” world is in play

“You’ve got five seconds or it’s over. You’ve got five seconds or you won’t make it.”
— Mark Cavendish (Omega Pharma-Quick Step)
