#45. Watch the sun rise
There are not too many mornings where I am happy to see the sun rise, ANZAC Day is one of the exceptions. After arriving at the Scout Hall late for our pre-ANZAC ‘lack of sleepover’, I rolled out the swag near the campfire at the back of the hall not expecting to get any sleep but more to keep warm so I didn’t antagonize my already troublesome head cold. This plan worked out pretty well as there was no sleep, but I did manage to keep the night air off my chest.
After a 4:30am wake up call we made our way up to the Eltham War Memorial by 5:30am for the 6:00am Dawn Service. The Sun rose over our shoulder, the cockatoos gave the ceremony a fly by as the sky turned pink with the light of the dawn. Eltham does community well, and it was on display again this morning.
❝ They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget. ❞
