Tim Flannery: The Giving Of Life

Tim Flannery: The Giving Of Life
ABC Radio National – The Pool
❝ Billabongs are the miracle of the Australian continent. ❞

Swimming, splashing, diving, playing—pools have a central place in Australian life and cultural identity. Repositories of memory pools evoke both the sacred and profane, they’re also a distinctively Australian democratic space—a great leveller of difference. In this celebration of the Pool eight prominent Australians share their memories of; winning medals, socialising, changing racial attitudes, training and growing up in the pool. These stories were produced in association with The Pool, an exhibition from Aileen Sage Architects for the Australian pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale of Architecture.
