AIN’T NO PARTY LIKE A RUN PARTY
CELEBRATE THE END OF THE YEAR WITH SOLE MOTIVE THIS DECEMBER FOR OUR END OF YEAR RUN PARTY. THIS AINT’ NO REGULAR PARTY – FORGET THE SAUSAGE ROLLS AND FAIRY BREAD – WE’RE PUTTING THE FUN BACK INTO “FUN RUN”.
We’re celebrating every runner and inviting you and your friends to join us for a mid-week run party at Albert Park Lake. Celebrate running. Celebrate 2017. Celebrate your achievements. Celebrate your friends. Run with Sole Motive.
Participants will begin at Palms Lawn at Albert Park Lake. Participants will run in an anti-clockwise direction around Albert Park Lake – 1 lap for 5K and 2 laps for 10K – before returning to Palms Lawn to through the finish line.
Our course motivators will get you pumped up at the start line and keep you running hard while you run around the lake, so make sure you give a high-five to Miss Spartan, the Pace Leaders from South Melbourne Athletics Club, the Samba Drummers, the smooth sax and Beyond Blue cheer squad.
Like previous years, Sole Motive turned on a warm evening for their last event of the year, even with the delayed start it was 36 degrees as we took off around the lake.
Due to the extreme weather (temperature above 36 degrees / high winds) forecast by BOM this afternoon, we have put in place the following measures to make participants have an enjoyable experience at the End of Year Run Party:
– Delayed the start time of all events by 30minutes:…
Having injured the achillies at Afterglow, the plan tonight was to sit on the 5 min/km and see how things went. This was a fairly good plan and I only needed to drop off this pace for the last two kilometers into the headwind to make the achillies feel ok. I ended up drinking more than usual, and tipping water into my hat, to stay cool.
There were less food & drink choices at the finish than at the SunSet series, this reduced the “party” atmosphere compared to the SunSet series vibe (although it may also have been the heat).
