❝ Badass Lady Gang: (noun) A sisterhood of women (and super groovy men) who aren’t afraid to push one another, and themselves, to be the best they can be while having the best time doing it. ❞

In brief:

*

Running:

* London Marathon 2017

* Swansea Harrier Matthew Rees helps a struggling runner cross the line at the #LondonMarathon

I’m always conflicted with these stories; I see this as a DQ for the aided runner for “Receiving Outside Assistance”. There is an official there to help if required.

Cycling:

* Summary – Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2017

* Liège Bastogne Liège 2017 – Women’s Race (Finish)

    I’m also conflicted about the assistance stories. They are heart-warming, sure, but I always look at the struggling person and think “You are collapsing! Your body has literally stopped itself working because it is telling you it is in serious distress and should not go on! Stopppppp!”. I am concerned that there are now so many of these instances that it becomes normal to see people exercising to collapse and beyond, and even though usually the over-exerted athlete will be fine with some basic medical assistance, I don’t think this is a great message. If you can’t move your own body over the line, then medical intervention should be immediate (and yeah it’s also a DNF).
